Description:
Once a century, one person is chosen for greatness.

Elisa is the chosen one.

But she is also the younger of two princesses. The one who has never done anything remarkable, and can’t see how she ever will.

Now, on her sixteenth birthday, she has become the secret wife of a handsome and worldly king—a king whose country is in turmoil. A king who needs her to be the chosen one, not a failure of a princess.

And he’s not the only one who seeks her. Savage enemies, seething with dark magic, are hunting her. A daring, determined revolutionary thinks she could be his people’s savior, and he looks at her in a way that no man has ever looked at her before. Soon it is not just her life, but her very heart that is at stake.

Elisa could be everything to those who need her most. If the prophecy is fulfilled. If she finds the power deep within herself. If she doesn’t die young.

Most of the chosen do.

Review:
Every once in a while a book comes along that captivates you, completely takes you in and haunts you. This book did that for me. I laughed, I cried, I found myself getting chills during the climax of the story and I even yelled a few profanities!
Elisa, a princess who is somewhat overweight and loves pastries (don’t we all) was picked to bear the Godstone. She is destined for greatness but honestly she’s just as ordinary as anyone else. Her father plans to marry her off to a king of another country, in the sake of providing an army. She has no idea who this king is and hopes he’s ugly. HA! When she finally meets him on their wedding day she’s taken aback by how striking he is. The king is completely kind to her and asked to “be friends”.
As she journeys to her new home war is on the brink and she has to travel, with her new husband, in secret as so not to be attacked. There are monsters and enemies that would die to get her stone and use it’s power, not only against her but against the world. Elisa is destined for greatness, but again, she feels the wrong person was picked to make this sacrafice. Can she do it? Can she fulfill the prophecy and become the Queen her people need her to be, the Wife her Husband needs her to be, the strong-willed person she needs herself to be? All of the other chosen have failed to complete their task. Will Elisa succeed? GO PICK UP THIS BOOK NOW! It is worth the read and personally I cannot WAIT until the next installment is out!
